5 Lessons I Learnt In 2017

Hey guys!!

I’m gonna start off by saying Happy New Year to everyone. Hope everyone enjoyed the crossover. 💕 I know the first rule about 2018 is not to talk about 2017 (i’ve seen the meme a 100 times, lol) But i just wanted to share this with you because i think these lessons will help me and you in future. I was supposed to post this earlier on (before the new year) but i am so sorry for the late post.

Okay, so lately I’ve been thinking about how 2017 has been a crazy year for me. It had its ups and downs, but through it all, I learnt so much.  Most of what i learnt is positive and I hope that some of you can relate to what I will be speaking about or even learn from this post. Here are the 5 Lessons I Learnt in 2017.

1. Happiness over shadows pain and suffering.

Everyone goes through a hard time in life. It puts you in a sad place and everything in life turns out to be so gloomy.  But with happiness around you, the sad thoughts can fade away for some time… be it 2 minutes or a few hours.  This happiness can be achieved through being around your loved ones such as friends and family or doing something that makes you happy. With all this I am able to be distracted from all that made me walk in pain, suffering and sadness. I’m not saying that happiness will eventually heal the pain because sometimes pain can last permanently.  But happiness does make you forget about the temporary pain and suffering for a little while.

2. God is always there for you.

To be honest, this is not something that I have learnt in 2017. It’s something I’ve known my entire life.  We may go through times were we feel like we are all alone and no-one is there for us, but the reality is that God is there. How do i know this?  It’s through the feeling of his presence. It’s kind of a complicated thing to explain but i will try breaking it down for you. See imagine feeling helpless, or feeling like you are not going to achieve something. There is always a voice in the back of my head that gives me this awareness and this comfort of knowing that God will be here with me 24-7. He will guide and assist in what i want to achieve and there is no doubt about that.

3. Forgive them for you.

Ever been stabbed in the back by someone you trusted, someone you loved, someone you thought would never hurt you? Well, I have…. I won’t go into too much detail about what happened. But it took time for me to forgive (TBH it took one full year to fully forgive this person). It was my first time dealing with such pain. I realised that when i said i had forgiven this person a few months after the incident, every time i thought about the situation i would get so mad, so touched, so sad. A mixture of emotions would just build up and i never felt good about them…Yet i thought i forgave the person. I had forgiven only with my mind. But after a full year my mind, my heart, my soul, my everything was able to forgive and that’s when I realised that forgiveness will come with time.  And you will feel good about it.

4. Put your heart to it and you will get there.

Being lazy is like a disease! It takes away the time that you could have used to make progress.  Laziness is even worse if your heart is not into whatever it is you are doing and that makes you fall, it makes your progress fade away.  For example, if you fail to put your heart and your mind into a subject you are doing, you will fail to achieve good grades. All it takes is for you to give it your all and you will definitely make it. So put your heart into it and you will get there.

5. Be patient, you will be fine.

“Patience, patience, patience,” I know everyone always says “be patient.”  Don’t take number 5 for granted guys! Patience is key when it comes to achieving something.  You can’t always be in impatient with what you are trying to achieve. A peaceful mind will lead to calm and patient thoughts.  With patience, you have a proper strategy to do what you want in order to achieve something. Compare this to being impatient.  It will be difficult for you to go from A to Z without skipping a letter all because impatience will cause you to panic and do everything in a hurry.  Just be patient….You will be fine. You will get what you want. Just believe, just be…patient.

So those are 5 important things I have leant this year.  I actually leant a lot more than this but i just wanted to show you guys the 5 things that really helped me be it at school, at home, with family, with friends and most importantly with myself.  I believe that each year, we grow, we become more mature and we learn a lot of great things that we can reflect later on in our lives.  Hope everyone has a happy New year! May your 2018 come with great lessons and more blessings!!!

Cheers to a new year 🍻

Xoxo
